Hi, I'm Debbie Russell a member of Tulsa Business Leaders for at least 10 years. They are a great bunch and a VERY good business group. I would feel comfortable refering anyone of them. I have been a Mortgage Loan Officer at Associated Mortgage Corporation for the past 8 years and 14 at another company before AMC. I am also current Board President of Y-ME National Breast Cancer NE Oklahoma Affiliate.

Back to the mortgage industry, things have been pretty easy to get a loan for anyone with any kind of credit, but the industry now is under so much scrutiny with the foreclosures and deliquencies that we have already been getting updates for tighter underwriting guidelines, I'll keep you posted. Gotta go now, will check back later.

Homestead Info & Recipe for Valentine Cookies

Homestead, TIME TO FILE?

Oklahoma law allows the owner(s) of residential real estate property to file for and receive a Homestead Exemption on their property if: (1) they were the owners of record on January 1 and (2) are living in the property. In addition to receiving a $1000.00 reduction in the assessed value of the property and tax savings of $85-$135 per year, filing the Homestead Exemption also establishes a legal record of Homestead on a residence.

If you would like to know if you currently have Homestead Exemption on your home or how to file for the Exemption, contact me at Gaye@GayeBrown.com . You have until March 15th to file for the homestead exemption for 2007. If you have previously filed for the Homestead Exemption on your current residence, you do NOT need to file again.

Chocolaty Valentine's Cookies

1/2 c Milk
1/4 lb Butter
6 tblsp Unsweetened cocoa
1 2/3 c Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla extract
3 c Rolled oats

Put the milk and butter in the saucepan over medium heat. Add cocoa and sugar; stir well. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Beat in vanilla extract and rolled oats. Blend well. Spoon onto cookie sheet. Let cool until hardened. These cookies, when cooled, resemble fudge; very chewy.
